TEKELIEV, ALEXANDER The bass-baritone Alexander Tekeliev was born in 1972 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He graduated from the Lubomir Pipkov Music High School in Sofia in 1992 and the State Music Academy in Sofia in 1997 in operatic performance and in 2001 in stage direction. In 1997-1999 he was awarded the Kraft Jacobs Sushard scholarship, on the recommendation of Alexander Pereira, director of the Zurich Opera. During 1998-2000 Alexander Tekeliev attended the summer courses of Ralf Doring in Baden, organized by the Vienna Music Academy. Since 1997 he has worked with the opera houses in Stara Zagora, Varna, Plovdiv, and Bourgas and with the Sofia National Opera. He has also performed in Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Great Britain, Switzerland, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Greece and Italy.
