HERRMANN, ANKE Born in Ukraine, the soprano Anke Herrmann studied with Günther Leib at the Hanns Eissler Hochschule in Berlin,
and took master-classes with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. In 1991 she made her début as
Rosina in Mozarts La finta semplice at the Berlin Schauspielhaus. As a specialist in early music she has appeared
in leading opera houses and festivals, including the Berlin Staatsoper, the Théâtre de la Place in Liège, the
Innsbruck Early Music Festival, the Macerata Festival and the Halle Handel Festival. She has collaborated with
well-known conductors, including Daniel Barenboim and René Jacobs, and under Alessandro de Marchi sang
Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas at the Florence Maggio Musicale.
