MATTILA, ANSSI Anssi Mattila, harpsichord
Anssi Mattila studied piano and organ at the Helsinki Conservatory and Sibelius Academy, before continuing with training as a harpsichordist at the Utrecht Conservatory, where he completed his studies in 1987. His career has brought concert appearances in Scandinavia, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Japan, both as a harpsichord-player and as a conductor, in the latter capacity notably in baroque and early classical repertoire. He is the founder and conductor of the Sixth Floor Ensemble, a group that specialises in early music performance on instruments of the period. He is a member of the teaching staff of the Sibelius Academy.
