PALOMBI, ANTONELLO Antonello Palombi
Antonello Palombi made his debut in 1990 as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly,
continuing his career in a wide repertoire ranging from Verdi and Puccini to
Rossini and Mozart. In recent years he has concentrated on roles best suited to
his voice as a lyrical or lyrical spinto tenor. In 1997 he sang Des Grieux in Manon
Lescaut at Glyndebourne under John Eliot Gardiner, and undertook the role
of Enea in Les Troyens at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The following
year he participated in a series of performances of Verdis Requiem in Germany
and also in London, at St Pauls Cathedral, again conducted by Gardiner, and
made his debut as Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Teatro Sociale in Padua,
undertaking the roles of Radames in Aida at the Teatro La Fenice in
Venice, and of Don Jose in Carmen in Tokyo. His international career has
continued with returns to Glyndebourne and La Fenice, and appearances in major
opera houses throughout Europe.
