PALOMBI, ANTONELLO Antonello Palombi made his debut in 1990 as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, continuing his career in a wide repertoire ranging from Verdi and Puccini to Rossini and Mozart. In recent years he has concentrated on roles best suited to his voice as a lyrical or lyrical spinto tenor. In 1997 he sang Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut at Glyndebourne under John Eliot Gardiner, and undertook the role of Enea in Les Troyens at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. The following year he participated in a series of performances of Verdis Requiem in Germany and also in London, at St Pauls Cathedral, again conducted by Gardiner, and made his debut as Cavaradossi in Tosca at the Teatro Sociale in Padua, undertaking the roles of Radames in Aida at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, and of Don Jose in Carmen in Tokyo. His international career has continued with returns to Glyndebourne and La Fenice, and appearances in major opera houses throughout Europe.
