ARIOSTINI, ARMANDO (b 1951 )Armando Ariostini was born in Milan and studied with Lia Guarini and then in the Studio of La Scala under Edoardo Muller, Giulietta Simionato and Gina Cigna, winning success in a number of international competitions, including the Busseto Voci Verdiane, the RAI Maria Callas, the Alessandria Laboratorio Lirico and the Reggio Emilia Achille Peri. In 1984 he undertook the rôle of Eisenstein at La Fenice in Venice, the first of many successful appearances there. Gifted both as an actor and a singer, he has appeared at major opera houses throughout Europe and the Americas and collaborated in numerous recordings. His repertoire extends to some 85 rôles.
