HRISTOVA, BELLA (b 1985 )

As First Prize Winner of the 2007 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, Bella Hristova made a critically acclaimed concert tour of New Zealand. She won First Prize in the 2008–09 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and was a Laureate of the 2006 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. She is a member of Lincoln Center’s Chamber Music Society Two. In 2009 she performs at Carnegie Hall with Cho-Liang Lin, Kyoko Takezawa, and the New York String Orchestra conducted by Jaime Laredo. She has also performed at the festivals of Marlboro, Grand Teton, Music at Angel Fire, Music@Menlo, and Ravinia’s Steans Institute. Born in Bulgaria in 1985, Bella Hristova began violin studies at the age of six. Since 1999 she has lived in the United States, studying with Stephen Shipps and later working with Ida Kavafian and Steven Tenenbom at the Curtis Institute, and Jaime Laredo at Indiana University. She plays a 1655 Nicolò Amati violin, once owned by the violinist Louis Krasner.
