FROMANGER, BENOIT Benoît Fromanger, flute
Trained at the Versailles Conservatoire, the flautist Benoît Fromanger
was awarded first prize, the golden medal, for flute in 1977, followed in 1978
by the Prix d'Honneur. At the Paris Conservatoire as a pupil of Jean-Pierre
Rampal he was awarded first prize in 1982. His subsequent career has brought
principal positions in the Toulouse Orchestre du Capitole, the Paris Opéra
Orchestra and, under Sir Colin Davis, the Bavarian Radio Orchestra. His recordings
have earned him the Grand Prix of the French Académie de Disque.
