DANIELS, CHARLES

The tenor Charles Daniels studied at Cambridge and at the Royal College of Music in London. National and international concert engagements have ranged from Monteverdi’s Vespers at the BBC Proms to the world première of Kilar’s Missa Pro Pace, Bach’s St Matthew Passion with The Sixteen and Britten’s Serenade in St Gallen. His recordings include Messiah (Gabrieli Consort/DG), Dowland songs (EMI), Handel’s Alexander Balus (The King’s Consort/Hyperion), The Beggar’s Opera (Hyperion), Schütz’s Christmas Story (DG), Haydn’s St Cecilia Mass (Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra), Bach’s Easter Oratorio (Taverner Consort/EMI), Airs de Cour with Catherine King and Jacob Heringman, Occasional Songs by Handel with Emma Kirkby (SOMM) and over twenty discs of Purcell’s music.
