ELGIN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The Elgin Symphony Orchestra is one of the fastest growing orchestras in the United States. Founded in 1950, the ESO has had only three music directors: Douglas Steensland, Grammy award-winner Margaret Hillis and Robert Hanson. Under Hanson, the ESO has three times been named Orchestra of the Year by the Illinois Council of Orchestras. This recording is part of the ESO’s initiative In Search of Our American Voice, a multi-year festival tracing uniquely American themes in classical music from the nineteenth century to the present.
