VAZQUEZ, ENCARNACION Encarnación Vazquez was born in the Distrito Federal of Mexico and from the start of her career enjoyed great success, thanks to the purity of her voice and her dramatic and musical sense. She won prizes in a number of national and international competitions, including first prize in the Oralia Dominguez International Competition and the Premio Butterfly for the best mezzo-soprano in the Francisco Viñas International Competition in Barcelona. She has also received the annual award of the Mexican Union of Theatre and Music Critics for her performance in the Second Symphony of Mahler and as Adalgisa in the opera Norma. In collaboration with artists of the greatest distinction, she has appeared in Don Giovanni, Faust, Così fan tutte, Ariadne auf Naxos and Le nozze di Figaro, among other operas.
