ACOSTA, GONZALO

Uruguayan born Gonzalo Acosta studied with Jaroslav Vanecek at the Royal College of Music and with Zakhar Bron in Germany. At 21 he became Principal Second Violin with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and subsequently Deputy Leader of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, followed by appearances as guest leader with several British orchestras. He was Professor and Orchestral Coach at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, while remaining a member of the Dussek Piano Trio. His recordings include the Arensky trios and a CD of chamber music by William Hurlestone. He gave the British première of Jose Serebrier’s early Solo Violin Sonata, which he has performed in Europe and South America. He is Associate Leader of the English National Opera Orchestra.
