NODAIRA, ICHIRO Ichiro Nodaira, piano
After receiving his bachelor's and master's degrees at the Tokyo National University
of Fine Arts and Music, Ichiro Nodaira went to Paris in 1978 on a scholarship
granted by the French government and continued his studies at the Conservatoire
National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he received the Premier
Prix in composition, piano accompaniment, and musical analysis. After graduation
from the Conservatoire, he worked in Paris both as a composer and a pianist.
In the latter capacity he has performed with the Orchestre Philharmonique of
Radio France, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the London Sinfonietta, and some
of the major orchestras in Japan. As a chamber music player he has appeared
with many prominent artists from Japan and abroad. Ichiro Nodaira has written
a number of compositions commissioned by various organizations and institutions,
including the French Ministry of Culture.
