ZARITZKAYA, IRINA Irina Zaritzkaya won distinction first in her native Russia,
before winning the second prize, after Pollini, in the Warsaw Chopin Competition, the
prelude to a busy career in the Soviet Union. In 1972 she moved to Israel and embarked on
an international career that brought engagements with major orchestras and appearances
in North and South America, in the Far East and throughout Europe. Today Irina Zaritzkaya
lives in London, where she teaches at the Royal College of Music, while continuing to
undertake concert engagements throughout Western Europe.
