VIEAUX, JASON Jason Vieaux began his guitar studies at age eight in Buffalo, New York. In
1992 he became the youngest First Prize winner in the history of the Guitar
Foundation of America International Competition. Mr. Vieaux resides in
Cleveland OH, is Head of The Cleveland Institute of Music Guitar Department,
and regularly tours the US as recitalist, chamber musician, concerto soloist
and masterclass teacher. He has also toured Spain, France, Japan, Mexico,
Canada, New Zealand, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and
Myanmar (Burma). Mr. Vieaux has been engaged as concerto soloist with The
Cleveland Orchestra, The Cleveland Pops, The Chamber Orchestra of
Philadelphia, Auckland Philharmonia, Santa Fe Symphony, The Astral Chamber
Orchestra, Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra 2001, and has worked with
conductors Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Luis Biava, Gareth Morrell and Jahja Ling.
Recently, Mr. Vieaux gave a week of solo and chamber music performances as a
2002 Young Artist-in-Residence on National Public Radio's "Performance
Today", playing with flutist Gary Schocker, violinist Soovin Kim and the
Shanghai Quartet. Jason Vieaux has released six recordings; his "Laureate
Series" CD on Naxos Records has sold over 30,000 copies, and discs of Ponce
and Albeniz are available on Azica Records.
