FOTTINGER, JOHANNES Born in Vienna, Johannes Föttinger studied there and in Salzburg, among others with Waldemar Kmentt and Martina Arroyo. Originally a lyric tenor, he changed to a character tenor. He has had engagements in Görlitz, Bautzen, Frankfurt/Oder, Rudolstadt, San Salvador, Liberec, Bydgoscsz, St Gallen and Vienna, with concerts and Lieder recitals in Austria, Germany, Russia and the United States. His opera and operetta repertoire includes Hans in The Bartered Bride, the Duke in Rigoletto, Lyonel in Martha, Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, David in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, and Gunthimar in Siegfried Wagner’s Wahnopfer. He sang the part of a lad in a recording of Banadietrich and of Fink in Der Kobold.
