RANCH, LARS Born in Copenhagen, Lars Ranch started his study of the trumpet with his father, Finn Ranch, becoming a member of the Tivoli Garde and shortly afterwards embarking on a solo career. Taught by Ole Andersen and Kurt Pedersen in Copenhagen and by Pierre Thibaud in Paris and winner of various competition prizes, he had his first engagement with the Paris Orchestre des Prix. In 1989 he became solo trumpet in the Bremen State Philharmonic Orchestra and two years later joined the Hamburg State Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 1994 he has held a similar position in the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. He has appeared as a soloist with the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Turkish Presidential Symphony Orchestra, the Magdeburg Philharmonic, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Weimar Staatskapelle, the Bonn Classical Philharmonic, the Berlin Chamber Orchestra, the Copenhagen Royal Symphony Orchestra and the Virtuosi Saxonie. Since 2005 he has held a senior teaching position at the Otto von Guricke University in Magdeburg.
