ISLAM-ALI-ZADE, LUISA The mezzo-soprano Luisa Islam-Ali-Zade is a prize-winner from the Belvedere, ARD and Robert Stolz Competition, and of others, including the Concours International de Musique de Montréal, the Erika Köth Competition, Neustadt, and the International Coloratura Competition in Stuttgart. With an astonishing vocal range of more than three octaves, she has no difficulty in also tackling high soprano rôles. Her interests lie particularly in Mozart and in Rossini, and in French and Russian repertoire. She has appeared in Vienna, Toulouse, Stuttgart, Salzburg, Nantes, Avignon, Hamburg, Geneva, Liège, Bregenz, St Petersburg, Dublin and Göteborg. At Wildbad she has sung the rôles of Carmen, Rosina, Angelina in La Cenerentola, Isabella in L’italiana in Algeri, Mignon in the opera by Thomas, Cherubino, Zerlina and Despina, among many others. Concert engagements have included appearances in the Berlin Philharmonic, the Munich Herkulessaal and the Stuttgart Liederhalle. Her recordings for Naxos include the rôles of Isolier in Le Comte d’Ory and of Anna in Maometto secondo.
