MARTÍNEZ, MAGDALENA Magdalena Martínez, flute
Since 1986 Magdalena Martínez has been the solo flute player of the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC). She studied at the Conservatory of Valencia, and also attended classes at the Paris Conservatoire with Alain Marion and Raymond Guiot, at Indiana University (Bloomington) with Peter Lloyd, and the Royal Academy in London with William Bennett. She got first prizes at the Jeunesses Musicales National Competition (Chamber Music and Solo Player), the Paris Conservatoire and the Woodwinds Competition at Bloomington. She has played under major conductors like Pierre Boulez, Christopher Hogwood, and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. She has given masterclasses in music schools and consevatories in Zaragoza, La Coruña, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante, Seville, Hosca, Vigo, Tarragona, etc. Her students are now either orchestral players or they teach at the best European music schools.
