LANCASTER, MARGARET Noted for her interdisciplinary collaborations and hailed as the “leading exponent of the avant-garde flute” (Kyle Gann, The Village Voice), Margaret Lancaster has premièred over 100 pieces and has built a large repertoire of new works composed specifically for her, employing extended techniques, dance, drama, multi-media, and electronics. Performance highlights include the Lincoln Center Festival, Spoleto Festival USA, Santa Fe New Music, Whitney Museum, and the Edinburgh Festival. She has recorded for New World Records, OO Discs, Innova, Naxos and Tzadik, and was selected for Meet the Composer’s New Works for Soloist Champions project.
