HOFFMANN, MERETE

Merete Hoffmann was born in Åbenrå in 1949 and studied with Ole Henrik Dahl of the Royal Danish Orchestra. Subsequently she studied with solo oboists Lothar Koch and Hansjörg Schellenberger in Berlin. She was appointed principal oboe of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in 1974 and has appeared frequently as a soloist with this orchestra. Her awards include the Jacob Gade Prize (1975) and the Thomas Jensen Scholarship (1980). Merete Hoffmann is very active as a chamber musician and has been a recipient of the Diplome d'Honneur with the Trio d'Anches at Colmar in France. She is a member of the Danish Wiener Ensemble the Zelenka Ensemble, and Trio Danica. In addition to performing, she teaches chamber music at the Royal Academy of Music in Århus.
