MEYER, MERETE L. The Norwegian soprano Merete Meyer was trained at the University College of Opera (Stockholm), the Norwegian Academy of Music (Oslo) and the Agder Music Conservatory
(Kristiansand). She has appeared on many major stages in Norway and Sweden including the Royal Opera in Stockholm and the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo. Among her rôles are Helena in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mimì in Puccini’s La Bohème, Marie in Thrane’s Fjeldeventyret, Katarina in Madsen’s Aurora and Inez in Verdi’s Il trovatore. She has worked with noted conductors including Stefan Solyom, Michael Bartosch, Siegfrid Köhler and Dietfrid Bernet. Merete Meyer has received several scholarships including the Jenny Lind award, Prince Eugens award and First Prize in the Norwegian National Singing Competition for Young Singers.
