OVRUTSKY, MIKHAIL

The violinist Mikhail Ovrutsky has recently become the first prize winner in the Pretoria Unisa International Competition in South Africa. He was also First Prize winner of the Pablo Sarasate International Competition in Spain and the Johansen International Competition in Washington, DC. His numerous performances include appearances with the Philadelphia Orchestra in the United States, the St Petersburg Orchestra in Russia, the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra in Japan, and the Pablo Sarasate Orchestra in Spain, in addition to recital tours. Mikhail Ovrutsky was taught by Zoya Makhtina at the Moscow Conservatory, Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School of Music and Yomi Scott at the Curtis Institute of Music. Since 1997, he has studied with Zakhar Bron at the Cologne Hochshule für Musik.
