KASTON, MOTTI

Motti Kastón

 

Motti Kastón was born in Israel and studied at the Met in New York, where he made his début in 1989 in Il barbiere di Siviglia and won the Pavarotti Competition. He joined Stuttgart opera in 1991 and has appeared there as the Count in Le nozze di Figaro, Ezio, Sharpless, Wolfram, Germont, Roderick, Silvio, and Nibbio in Dorina e Nibbio. He sang the title-rôle of Orfeo in Montpellier and appeared as Rossini’s Figaro in Frankfurt, as Enrico Ashton in Houston and as Wolfram and Marcello at the Met and in Dresden. In Stuttgart he was Procolo in Donizetti’s Le convenienze, Ottone in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Rodrigo in Don Carlo, Don Fernando, Gonsalvo Fieschi in Schreker’s Die Gezeichneten and Lubino in Una cosa rara, as well as making appearances as Marcello, the Speaker in Die Zauberflöte, Germont in La traviata and Apollon in Alceste. At the Youth Opera of Stuttgart he sang Cipolla in Stephen Oliver’s Mario and the Magician, for which he was nominated Singer of the Year in 2004.
