RTE PHILHARMONIC CHOIR Radio Telefís Éireann Philharmonic Choir
Chorus Master: Mark Duley
The RTÉ Philharmonic Choir has been at the centre of choral music in Ireland since its foundation in 1985. It works principally with the RTÉ orchestras in the performance of large-scale choral works, giving solo concerts and broadcasts. Conductors with whom it works regularly include Gerhard Markson and Alexander Anissimov. The chorus master of the choir is Mark Duley, who is well known for his work with Irish choirs as both a conductor and choral clinician. The 140 choir members, who commit their services entirely voluntarily, meet weekly for rehearsals in the Donnybrook area and usually give at least three concerts annually with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. Members are re-auditioned every three years in order to ensure that the choir retains, and develops, its youthful and increasingly close-knit ensemble sound.
