REDMON, ROBYNNE The American mezzo-soprano Robynne Redmon has won international acclaim for her glorious singing, intense
acting, excellent phrasing, ardent tone, splendid shading, solid coloratura and extraordinary artistic sense. She has
performed leading rôles with the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Bavarian State
Opera, Dallas Opera, San Francisco Opera and Berlin State Opera. Her orchestral appearances have included
performances with the Cincinnati May Festival, the Casals Festival, the Montreal Symphony and the Israel
Philharmonic. She has worked with such esteemed conductors as Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev,
Christian Thielemann, Charles Dutoit and James Conlon. Her breakthrough came with Lyric Opera of Chicago in
1997, when she portrayed Adalgisa in a new production of Norma to great critical and popular acclaim. She has
since returned there for Fenena in Nabucco and Laura in La Gioconda. She made her début at the Metropolitan
Opera in 1996 as Maddalena in Rigoletto, and was invited back the following season to sing Marina in Boris
Godunov. Other major débuts followed: Fenena in Munich in 1998; La Haine in Glucks Armide at Milans Teatro
alla Scala in 1999, and Adalgisa in Norma at both Opéra de Marseille and the Berlin State Opera in 2000.
