Stefan Frank, organ
Born in 1974 the German organist
Stefan Frank studied with Martha Schuster and Edgar Krapp at the Munich Music
and Theatre Hochschule, where he received the masterclass diploma summa cum
laude, benefiting also from the guidance of Wolfgang Rubsam, Marie-Claire Alain,
as he embarked on an international career as an organ recitalist. Stefan Frank
has been invited to play at important festivals in Europe and America, at the
cathedrals of Passau, Budapest, the Madeleine in Paris, New York City and the
Buenos Aires Organ Festival, and elsewhere. He has won several distinctions
and prizes, including first prize at the 1994 Jugend musiziert competition,
in 1998 the Straubing Culture Promotion Award, and in 2000 the Munich Wolf-Memorial-Award
and the Felix-Mottl-Promotion-Award. He was a member of Yehudi Menuhin's Live
Music Now and is artistic director of the international concert series at
the Pilgrimage Church at Bogenberg, in Bavaria. His harpsichord engagements
include appearances with the Munich Symphony Orchestra. Together with his wife
Kathinka Frank he founded the organ duo Ensemble 4 Feet.
His recordings have won critical
favour in the press.
