VALENCIA REGIONAL GOVERNMENT CHOIR The Chorus of the Generalitat Valenciana was established in 1987 as part of the Instituto Valenciano de la Música, with its base at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. The chorus has been conducted by Claudio Abbado, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Franz-Paul Decker, Manuel Galduf, Leopold Hager, Lorin Maazel, Neville Marriner, Zubin Mehta, Yehudi Menuhin, Marc Minkowski, Michel Plasson, Georges Prêtre, Helmuth Rilling, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Mstislav Rostropovich, Claudio Scimone and Alberto Zedda, and has participated in leading European festivals. It was heard at the close of the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992, at UNESCO in Paris, at the World Exhibition in Lisbon in 1998, at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art and the cathedral of St Patrick in New York. Recordings include works by Manuel de Falla, Luis de Pablo, Frederic Mompou and Joaquín Rodrigo, among others. The chorus has been directed since 1988 by Francesc Perales.
