LINDBLAD: Symphonies Nos. 1 and 2
|
|
Both Lindblad’s symphonies were performed in Sweden, but they were coolly received, although they won more favour abroad and the Symphony in C was conducted by Mendelssohn at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. Both symphonies are elegantly written, with influences from both Mozart and Beethoven. Listeners will recognise the closing moments of Symphony No. 2; it is Cherubino’s aria from Le Nozze di Figaro.
