Although best known as an organist, Percy Whitlock’s musicianship effortlessly extended to light music. Writing in a style that is immediately accessible, his light music is notable for its overall easy-going style, virtuoso orchestration and tunefulness. He often skilfully included parts of the organ within this repertoire, to great effect. With this disc Percy Whitlock rightfully takes his place alongside other English masters of light music featured in the Marco Polo series, such as Haydn Wood, Frederic Curzon and Ernest Tomlinson.
