SCRIABIN: Symphony No. 3 / Le Poeme de l'extase (Piano Transcriptions)
Usually performed as orchestral works, Scriabin’s Divine Poem and Poem of Ecstasy, extravagantly scored and of considerable length, are symphonies which break away entirely from the traditional organization of such works. These transcriptions for two pianos by Lev Konyus, who once taught the composer, were made to help conductors fully grasp the intricacies of the scores. Once thought to be lost, and rarely recorded, these transcriptions have evoked considerable admiration as powerful works in their own right.
