MENDELSSOHN: Flute Concerto in D Minor / Flute Sonatas
There is a lack of substantial flute repertoire from the 19th century, when the violin and the piano enjoyed the greatest popularity. The virtuoso flautist Marc Grauwels has sought to remedy this by his apt arrangement for the flute of works by Mendelssohn originally designed for the violin, including an early concerto and two sonatas for violin and piano. The new adaptations constitute a significant and interesting addition to music for the flute from that period.
