ROSLAVETS: Violin Sonatas Nos. 1, 4 and 6 / 3 Dances |
The forgotten man of Soviet music history, vilified in his day for having aspired to be a ‘Russian Schoenberg’, Roslavets began his career as one of the most rebellious of all Soviet avant-garde composers of the first two decades of the 20th century. This recording offers an intriguing overview of Roslavets’ music, from the experimental and technically demanding Sonata No. 1 of 1913, to the more traditional and accessible Sonata No. 6, reminiscent in style of the sonatas of the late 19th century.
