KIRCHNER: Duo for Violin and Piano / Piano Trio / Piano Sonata / Triptych
Leon Kirchner is one of the most individual voices in American composition. His powerful, expressive music carries on the legacy of his teachers Arnold Schoenberg, Ernest Bloch, and Roger Sessions. Propulsive and improvisational in spirit, each composition draws the listener into a musical journey, travelling through intense emotional realms in search of resolution. Kirchner heightens the experience with colourful directions in his scores, such as ‘Haltingly’, ‘Wild’, and ‘Coming from nowhere, almost out of control.’
