A rare opportunity to see the legendary pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli in concert, performing some of the repertoire for which he was most famed.
"A legend indeed for his ascetic demeanour, coruscating brilliance and general unpredictability." The Times
Michelangeli carried with him an impression not only of overwhelming power and authority, but also of an almost preternatural calm, redolent of an omnipotence which stimulated in his audiences expectancy and awe. As he once confessed, "I do not play for others, but only for myself in the service of the composer. It makes no difference whether there is an audience or not; when I am at the keyboard I am lost. And I think of what I play, and of the sound that comes forth, which is a product of the mind."
