Of the many and various events staged in 2001 in Busseto (Verdi's birthplace) to mark the centenary of the composer's death, this performance of Falstaff must surely count as one of the undisputed highlights.

Falstaff is the last opera written by the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi, who did so much to influence the history of music in the 19th century.
