re-release of this repackaged disc sees eminent
conductor Zubin Mehta take up a Russian-flavoured baton for the 1997 Waldbühne
concert, joined by the masterly Daniel Barenboim at the piano.
This
Russian-themed night begins with Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat
minor and continues with other renowned pieces from Russian composers including
Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumble Bee and Glinka’s Ruslan and Ludmila
Overture. The concert ends with the traditional operatic hit from Lincke
Berliner Luft.
