• Franz Schubert’s late song cycle, Winterreise, became one of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’s calling cards and probably the repertoire that made the baritone’s "international name".
• To mark Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’s 80th birthday this year, we now present a recording of Winterreise made in January 1979 to complement Schubert’s Die Schone Mullerin (DV-CODSM) already released on TDK in April 2005.
• The disc also includes bonus footage of Fischer-Dieskau and Alfred Brendel in rehearsal, offering a precious insight into a masterly interpretation of a cornerstone work.
