NETHERLANDS RADIO CHOIR The Netherlands Radio Choir, with 79 singers, is the largest
professional choir in the Netherlands, with a varied repertoire that has allowed
concert performances of nineteenth and twentieth century opera and of major
choral works from composers ranging from Mendelssohn to Michael Tippett. The
Dutch name of the ensemble, Groot Olmroepkor (Big Broadcasting Choir), does
not rule out the performance of smaller scale works, bringing an element of
flexibility to its programmes. The choir performs generally with one or other
of the Dutch radio orchestras or with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw
and plays an active part in Dutch concert life. The Chief Conductor of the Netherlands
Radio Choir is the American conductor Martin Wright, with Simon Halsey as principal
guest conductor.
