The Finnish-born composer Armas Jrnefelt enjoyed a career as a conductor and composer in Sweden, eventually taking Swedish citizenship. He studied with Wegelius and Busoni in Helsinki, with Becker in Berlin, and with Massenet in Paris. In 1907 he was appointed conductor at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, continuing an active career as a conductor in Finland and in Sweden.
