NARVAEZ, LUYS DE  

The Spanish composer and vihuelist Luys de Narváez was in the service of the Spanish court, at least as teacher of the children of the future Philip II.

The music Luys de Narváez wrote for the vihuela is contained in his Los seys libros del delphín (‘The Six Books of the Dauphin’). The collection includes fantasias, songs and diferencias (variations), these last among the earliest examples in Spanish vihuela or lute repertoire.
