LAPARRA, RAOUL BIOGRAPHY

(1876 - 1943)

A pupil of Faur, among others at the Paris Conservatoire, Raoul Laparra served as music critic for Le matin before turning more wholeheartedly to composition. His music often reflects his interest in Spanish and Basque folk-music, as in his operas La habanera and La jota and in his contributions to zarzuela.
