CABRE, JOSEP

A pupil of Christopher Schmidt in Basle and of Jordi Albareda in Barcelona, his native city, the baritone Josep Cabré appears in repertoire ranging from the Middle Ages to the baroque, collaborating with Il Seminario Musicale, Daedalus, the Orchestra of the Renaissance, the Teatro Lirico and the Fiontegara of Mexico. He is founder and director of the Compañia Musical, an ensemble dedicated to baroque performance, and is a founder member of the vocal quartet La Colombina, to which he devotes much of his professional activity. As a teacher he has accepted invitations from such institutions as the National Music School of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the chorus of the University of Xapala, the Flanders Festival and the Centre International des Chemins du Baroque. He has won particular acclaim for his concerts and recordings with the Capilla Peñaflorida.
