BOROWICZ, LUKASZ Artistic Director of the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Łukasz Borowicz was born in 1977 in Warsaw and studied with Bogusław Madey at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music, where he completed his doctoral studies in conducting with Antoni Wit. He received four prizes at international conductor’s competitions and made his début at the Polish National Opera with Don Giovanni. He has conducted outstanding orchestras abroad and appeared in major international music centres and in 2006 was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of Poznan Philharmonic. He inaugurated his first concert season as Artistic Director of the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra conducting the concert version of Verdi’s Falstaff and in 2008 he performed Cherubini’s Lodoïska during the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival and the complete Symphonies of Schumann.
