GAMBILL, PAUL Since founding the Nashville Chamber Orchestra in 1990, Paul Gambill has developed a national reputation for artistic excellence and innovative programming. His strong artistic leadership of the NCO has attracted recordings with major record labels, national concert broadcasts on NPRs Performance Today and a national award for adventurous programming from ASCAP. The Nashville Music Awards have recognized Pauls achievements with the NCO twice, with nominations for Best Classical Recording (1997) and Group of the Year (1998). He captured the attention of Warner Bros. Records in 1996, which resulted in the NCOs critically acclaimed début CD, Conversations In Silence, for which he also served as co-producer. This success has led to additional recordings with Naxos, Angel Classical, Alabaster and Almanac Records. Gambills guest conducting engagements have included the Memphis Symphony, the Richmond (IN) Symphony, Atlanta Winds, and Sinfonietta Ventus, Mexico City. He also held the position of music director and conductor of the Tennessee Summer Symphony, based in Memphis. Before turning his attention full-time to conducting Gambill performed French horn with the symphonies of Atlanta, Columbus, Grant Park, Indianapolis, Nashville, and the orchestra of the Santa Fe Opera.
