DENEVE, STEPHANE Music Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra since 2005, Stéphane Denève has made regular appearances with the orchestra at the Edinburgh International Festival and BBC Proms. A champion of the works of Albert Roussel, he and the orchestra were given a prestigious Diapason d’Or de l’Année award in 2007 for their first disc featuring the French composer’s works.
In recent seasons Stéphane Denève has appeared as a guest
conductor with orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Symphony, Czech Philharmonic,
Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, NDR Symphony Hamburg, and the Zürich Tonhalle Orchestra.
In the field of opera he has led productions at the Royal Opera House, Opéra National de Paris, Netherlands Opera and Bologna’s Teatro Comunale. He has also worked with a distinguished list of solo artists including Piotr Anderszewski, Leif Ove Andsnes, Emanuel Ax, Natalie Dessay, Leonidas Kavakos, Nikolai Lugansky, Gil Shaham, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Lars Vogt, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Nikolaj Znaider and Pinchas Zukerman.
