RINKEVICIUS, GINTARAS

Gintaras Rinkevicius was born in 1960, and studied in Vilnius and at the St Petersburg Conservatoire, from which he graduated in 1983. He is winner of the Fifth All-Union Conductor’s Competition of the former USSR in Moscow. In 1985 he won the International Herbert von Karajan Fund Competition in West Berlin, and in 1986 he became a laureate of the Budapest Competition In Memoriam Janos Ferencsik. In 1996 he was appointed Music Director of the Latvian National Opera. He has appeared as guest conductor throughout the European continent.
