Equivoco stravagante, L' (The Strange Misunderstanding)
  • Gioachino Rossini. Dramma giocoso in two acts. 1811.
  • Libretto by Gaetano Gasbarri.
  • First performance at the Teatro del Corso, Bologna, on 26th October 1811.

Rossini's first larger scale opera, L'equivoco stravagante is based on a plot of love intrigue in which the thick-witted Buralicchio, a basso buffo, is put off marriage with the lively Ernestina, largely through slander spread about her by her lover Ermanno, with whom she is finally united.
