CAPRICCIO ITALIANO ENSEMBLE The Capriccio Italiano Ensemble
Made up of outstanding young professional instrumentalists, the Capriccio Italiano
Ensemble was founded in 1991 by its conductor Daniele Ferrari under the name
of the Milano Sinfonietta. It has been known as the Capriccio Italiano Ensemble
since 1996. The repertoire of the group ranges from the Baroque to the contemporary,
and its make-up accordingly varies from a string band of fifteen musicians to
larger and more complex formations capable of performing major orchestral and
choral works. The group has given numerous concerts both in Italy and abroad.
Having worked with Daniele Ferrari for over a decade as a key element in his
ongoing project to rediscover and present, in concert and through recordings,
a broad spectrum of Sammartini's religious and symphonic works, the Ensemble
has developed a great familiarity with that composer's style and a special affinity
for his music. The orchestra has recorded for the RAI and for the Nuova Era
label. This recording marks its début for Naxos.
