FRANZ LISZT PIANO DUO Vittorio Bresciani • Francesco Nicolosi
Vittorio Bresciani and Francesco Nicolosi formed the Franz Liszt Piano Duo in 1998 with the aim of promoting Liszt’s symphonic work through the composer’s own transcriptions for two pianos. The project began with the Faust Symphony, and continued with the second great Lisztian symphony, the Dante Symphony. The two pianists have since performed at many leading concert venues and festivals, including the Milan Teatro alla Scala, the Ravenna Festival, the Rome Teatro dell’Opera, the Verona Arena, Naples Teatro San Carlo, the Accademia of Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Washington Kennedy Center, Teatro Avenida Buenos Aires, Budapest Liszt Festival, and Weimar Kunstfest in Germany. For the Dante Symphony Bresciani and Nicolosi have conceived a multimedia project, combining the projection of Gustave Dorè’s illustrations with the recitation of Dante’s poem during the music. The repertoire of the Duo also includes Liszt’s twelve symphonic poems and many two-piano transcriptions from Wagner’s operas, following other famous historic pupils of Liszt.
