DV-PTRU88 - PRINCE'S TRUST ROCK GALA 1988
The Prince's Trust
Rock Gala Volume 3
Royal Albert Hall
Picture Format: 4:3
The Prince's Trust Rock Gala Concerts began the Eighties trend for charitable concerts in aid of good causes. The first 1982 Gala revived a spark that had been fired by George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh in 1971, and turned it into a blazing modern tradition. This tradition reached its peak with the Live Aid Concerts to help relieve the Ethiopian famine of 1985.
In 1988 the venue was changed from the Wembley Arena to the Royal Albert Hall. The venue might have been smaller but there was no diminution in the All-Star roster.
The old concert hall had probably never seen so many starts together in one evening. Eric Clapton, Elton John, Phil Collins, Mark Knopfler, Leonard Cohen, the Bee Gees, Peter Garbriel, Joe Cocker, Wet Wet Wet, Midge Ure, Rick Astley, Howard Jones and T'Pau, made sure it went with a swing.
The stage was turned into a live jukebox unleashing a cornucopia of hits. "Layla", "You Can't Hurry Love", With a Little Help From My Friends", "You Win Again", "Money for nothing" and "Sledgehammer" are just some of the great songs you can hear.
TDK brings you this wonderful Gala Concert with sound and vision of the very highest quality, as usual giving you all the clarity and precision you could wish for...It's almost as good as being there.
